TRI CITIES, Wash. — The Budweiser Unlimited Hydroplane Series continues its season of parity, as Terry Troxell stunned defending series champion Dave Villwock to win the July 29 Budweiser Columbia Cup. Through its first four races of 2001, the series has produced four different winners.

Troxell, who drove the U-99 Miss Znetix II, earned his first Unlimited
hydroplane career victory for team owner Fred Leland.

"Winning my first career race in my first full season in the Unlimiteds is
amazing," said Troxell. "But to win in front of friends and family in my
home state is even better."

Perennial favorite Miss Budweiser, piloted by Dave Villwock, has yet to earn a second win this season. The 2001 tour marks the first season in 10 years that Miss Budweiser hasn't been dominant.

"We gave it what we had, but we got beat," said Villwock. "Give
Terry Troxell and Fred Leland's team credit, today was just their day."

Third place went to Fred Leland's other entry, Miss Znetix I, driven by Greg
Hopp.

The Budweiser Columbia Cup will be televised on ESPN2 on Sunday, September 9 at 2 p.m. (EDT). The next stop on the tour is the General Motors Cup at Seattle's SEAFAIR August 3-5 on Lake Washington. This will be the 51st year the event has been held.
